Synopsis

This audiovisual project teaches the steps of tanning caribou hide. It demonstrates the importance of passing down knowledge from the elders. The workshop allows women to enhance their skills while building connections with one another.

    Ruth Masty was born and still lives at the Whapmagoostui First Nation. She is the mother of 3 children, has 5 grandchildren, and she is a former Cree police officer. She now works for the Department of Justice and Correctional Services for the Cree Nation Government. She organizes traditional workshops in the community to learn and share the knowledge and skills of their culture.
